The Holmes County Trail serves as a safe and great getaway to miles of breathtaking beauty, the whole family can enjoy, whether biking, walking, or horseback riding. One lane of the trail is paved with asphalt for biking, roller-blading, walking, running, and wheelchairs, while the adjoining lane is paved with "chip and seal" for Amish buggies and horseback riding. It is labeled as the first Trail in the nation to accommodate Amish buggies, which now has 15 miles of the 29 mile trail open from Fredericksburg to Killbuck.
Starting the Holmes County Rails to Trails Auction on Friday night, June 7 will be youth volleyball and corn hole tournament beginning at 6:30 at the Holmes County Fair Grounds, as well as a preview of the auction items from 4:00-9:00 pm.
The Schedule for Saturday, June 8 begins with breakfast at 7:00 am. consisting of Breakfast Sandwiches, fresh fruit, donuts, cream sticks, orange juice and coffee. Following breakfast will be the Road Apple 5-K (registration begins at 7 am.). The 2 mile walk will begin at 7:30 am. and the 5K Race at 7:45 am. Following the events will be an awards ceremony at 8:45 am. All events will be held on the Holmes County Trail starting and finishing at Hipp's Depot located off of SR 39 West of Millersburg. Food will be served at the Fair Grounds.
The Auction begins at 9:00 am. Miscellaneous Items such as: crafts, garden tools, furniture and quilts, a bedroom suite, hutches, table and chairs, ceder chest, and numerous wood items donated by local craftsmen will be sold. Starting at 10:30 will be the Open Buggy and Lawn Furniture auction, including a Play Mor swing set, Toro Model 20199 with 30" deck, Hustler Walk-Behind Mower with 48" deck, and a Toro Model 30489 with a 52" deck. A 16x24 log cabin featuring an 8x24 porch and a loft inside, will be sold at 12:30 pm. on Saturday.
