Amish Auction

Come to Holmes County, Ohio and you will discover that auctions are not only a means of buying and selling goods and livestock, but also serve as a favorite pastime and social event for local residents.  Every week day there is an animal auction.  Monday and Friday is animal auction day in Sugarcreek; Tuesday is Farmerstown market day; Wednesday is Mt. Hope animal and flea market day, and Thursday is the Kidron animal and flea market.  On these days you will see the Amish driving their animals to market in carts and wagons.  Of these locations, Mt. Hope and Kidron have the most flea market vendors selling wares (during fair weather).

Some guests visiting the Millersburg, Ohio, Barn Inn Bed and Breakfast ask about local properties for sale or about estate auctions.  One of the best sources for local auctions is the little weekly paper, The Bargain Hunter which publishes detailed descriptions of real estate auctions, business (sell out) auctions, estate auctions, Amish school auctions, benefit auctions, and weekly antique auctions or collector's auctions.  You can subscribe to this publication.

Additionally, there are highly organized charity-benefiting auctions such as the 35th Annual Spring Benefit - Holmes County Training Center festival and auction on May 14, 2011.  The 10th Annual Consignment Auction for Martins Creek Valley School to be held on Saturday, May 21, 2011.  Every Monday evening Kaufman Auction House holds a weekly antique auction at the Holmes County Expo Center location.  Every Wednesday evening at 5 p.m. there is an auction at 2323 Co Rd 200, Dundee OH, located on the corner of Winesburg Rd (Co Rd 200).

The Millersburg, Ohio, Barn Inn bed and breakfast maintains a calendar of events that lists upcoming Amish School Auctions and other significant events.
