The Barn Inn

Winter at the Millersburg, Ohio, Barn Inn Bed and Breakfast, gives us the opportunity to repair and redecorate the inn.  My latest creative quest was to paint a tree mural in the Victorian Romance room.  The mural has completely transformed the room.  The once bland vanilla walls now showcase a macadamia nut color on the wall, and the tree mural gives a feeling of openness and relaxation.  I completed the mural in about 15 hours beginning on December 22, 2010 and finishing on Christmas Eve day.  What fun!  I freehandedly painted the tree trunks and branches, then stenciled leaves and birds.  Earlier I stenciled an area by the sink.  The stencil that I used was from Cutting Edge Stencils, turning it differing directions for desired placement. We hope that you will stop by the inn to see the latest, and  remember that The award-winning Barn Inns serves a free full country breakfast daily to Barn Inn guests.

Wall Stencil

It is during the winter when we are not as busy that we take the time to redecorate, replace carpeting, and do things to keep The Barn Inn Bed and Breakfast in Millersburg, Ohio, looking and feeling clean.   I love painting and decorating rooms for a new look and feel.  Here is a photo of my first wall stenciling adventure.  I used three different colors and shades.  If possible stop by The Barn Inn Bed and Breakfast in Ohio's Amish Country, and take a look at some of my creations.  In the Fred Gehrig Farmhouse here on the property, I created a beautiful tree using Venetian Plaster and a stencil for plaster.  I also did some decorative plaster work on the dining room ceiling.  Oh, it's so much fun doing this stuff!!  This painted tree is in the Victorian Romance Room.

The Barn Inn Bed and Breakfast, Millersburg, Holmes County Ohio, along with 12 other inns and bed and breakfasts, participated in the 3rd Annual Christmas Cookie Tour of Inns, December 5 & 6, 2010, a charity event netting a record $12,000 for Hospice of Holmes County and the Love Center Food Pantry.  Over 860 guests toured The Barn Inn to glean decorating ideas and inspirations for holiday celebration.  A guest from Magnolia, Ohio said, "It feeds your senses.  As women, we often neglect to put it all together, the old, the new..."  Rita from Pennsylvania said, "The entire tour is an excellent showcase of places to stay.  The Cookie Tour is a FABULOUS idea!"

Our Barn Inn goat played the role of Rudolph, much to the delight of our hundreds of visitors who fed Rudolph grain and took pictures.
