Loretta’s Midsummer Apple Bars

4 cups apples peeled and diced
1/2 cup oil
1 1/2 cup sugar
3 eggs
2 cups plus 3 Tablespoons flour
1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup raisins
1 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup walnuts
Mix all ingredients together. Bake in a 9x 13” pan at 350 degrees for one hour or until done.

Lemon Bars

2 cups flour
1 cup butter
1/2 cup powdered sugar
Mix until crumbly. Press into a 9×13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.
4 eggs
Put into a medium sized bowl and beat well
2 cups sugar
1/3 cup lemon juice
Grated lemon rind
Add, beating until fluffy.
1/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
Mix and fold in.
Pour over crust. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Sprinkle with powdered sugar while still hot.

Coming Soon – Fred Gehrig House Accommodations!

The newly remodeled and updated Gehrig House, original to the Barn Inn property and named for the owner and cheesemaker who occupied the home until in the 1930’s, is scheduled to open by April 30, 2010. Able to accommodate up to five persons, each of the two spacious upstairs bedrooms feature a queen bed and the staircase landing room features one twin bed. Recently added to the original farmhouse is a half bath upstairs. Complete with a laundry room, the house is perfect for a multi-night stay for a family or a group of friends.

Guests can make themselves at home, as the Gehrig House kitchen comes complete with a refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffeemaker, cookware, and dishes. A deck supplied with a gas grill offers additional cooking options. No food or maid service will be provided with a stay; however, individual bottled waters will be provided.
Weekend stays, Friday and Saturday, require a two night reservation. Check us for a discounted rate for a multi-night stay of three or more nights. The price per night is based on 2 adults. Each additional person 13 years of age and up is an additional $20. Children aged 3-12 are $15 each. Call for more details or watch our website for photos and complete details.
